Project Description

This Integrated Waste Management Plan provides a link between the status of the services that the Waste Department of the Emfuleni Local Municipality renders within its jurisdiction by highlighting the key challenges and identifying appropriate mechanisms to deal with these issues (i.e. describing the methods that will be implemented to ensure that all the activities of the waste department are aligned to the relevant legislative requirements).

Emfuleni Local Municipality has an existing Integrated Waste Management Plan (December 2008). Zitholele Consulting was approached by the Municipality to update the current Integrated Waste Management Plan (IWMP), with particular focus on integrating requirements as stipulated within the National Environmental Management: Waste Act (Act 59 of 2008).

• Gap analysis & needs assessment;
• Development of goals and objectives;
• Identification of Alternatives;
• Evaluation of alternative options; and
• Development of an implementation strategy and budget for chosen option(s)
